Mi Casa Tequila Blanco

45.5% ABV

This is a Blanco Tequila that was distilled in Arandas in the highlands of Jalisco from agaves grown in the state of Michoacan in 2011. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, the distillate was left in stainless steel tanks for 12 years prior to bottling! Although "aging" in steel does not impart the flavor or color that you would get from an oak barrel, the spirit does oxidize somewhat and a softening and melding of flavors occurs. The brand has restarted production and moving forward they will rest their Blanco Tequila for 6 months.

Soft on the palate with notes of vanilla and some creamy, buttery notes. Does not taste like an overproof Blanco despite its 45.5% ABV. A bit of peppery spice on the finish. A unique tequila due its lengthy time in tank prior to bottling and the provenance of it's agaves.
