Codigo 1530 Still Strength Blanco

Codigo 1530 comes from a single brand distillery in the town of Amatitàn in the lowland valley of Jalisco, Mexico. They use all estate agaves for their tequilas. The tequila in this limited Still Strength bottling was fermented with ambient yeasts in ex-wine casks and double distilled in stainless steel alembics with copper coils. The tequila is aerated and certified additive free by Tequila Matchmaker.

The nose is all ripe, earthy, roasty agave with some floral undertones. A classic lowland agave bouquet. On the palate, it is agave sweet upfront with notes of citrus and black pepper, with a soft and drying finish where you get some anise and sea salt flavors. A delightfully easy drinking and flavorful blanco. 

While we are not fans of "celebrity tequilas" in general, this may be the only one that we can get behind. The Country Music legend George Strait was an early investor and came onboard with the brand because of his love of the liquid and long before everyone in the entertainment industry tried to hitch their wagon to a liquor brand. And although all of his exes may live in Texas, his heart seemingly resides in Mexico!
