Madrecuishe is from the Karwinskii family of agaves which sort of look like dwarf palms. They have a short stalk that looks like that of a palm tree with the spiny piña of the agave at the top. This one is typical of the varietal but exceptional in quality! Herbaceous and vegetal with tropical sweetness and a mineral, peppery finish.

About Mezcal Dixeebe
Dixeebe (deej-bay) is a word from the indigenous Zapotec language of the central valleys of Oaxaca that is an expression of gratitude and connectedness to the moment. It is a toast and an expression of thanks. It is also the name of a Mezcal brand founded by Don Valentin Cortes, a 5th generation Maestro Mezcalero and his son Asìs. Their palenque is in Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca, the "Mezcal Capital of the World". They previously founded Mezcal El Jolgorio and Nuestra Soledad which they have since sold and Don Valentin had essentially retired. Asìs and some friends convinced him to begin production on a limited scale in 2022 and Mezcal Dixeebe was born. We are so grateful that Don Valentin has decided to share his amazing talents in mezcal production with us again!
