Lagrimas del Valle is a collaboration between Salvador "Chava" Rosales of Tequila Cascahuin and Lyons Brown of Altamar Brands who was one of the people behind Tequila Ocho (he is no longer affiliated). This tequila follows a similar concept in that they harvest agaves from a single plot of land, El Chiqueño in this case, and make a batch of vintage dated tequilas from that plot. This is the second edition from the brand and it's a dandy. The agaves are brick oven roasted and crushed with both a stone tahona and mechanical mill. The juice is spontaneously fermented in wooden tinas and and with bagasso (agave fibers) in stainless steel tanks. It's twice distilled in stainless steel pots with copper coils.
Minerals and earthiness are complemented by notes of lime and mint. The 46% ABV gives it length and oomph.
