A tremendous value for a Tepeztate of this quality. Made in the village of Zoquitlan, Oaxaca by Maestro Juan Pablo Parada Sanchez, it is produced in the traditional method. The Tepeztate (Agave Marmorata) are pit roasted in stone lined pits and milled with a tahona which is a large, horse drawn stone wheel used to crush the cooked agaves. They are fermented with spring water and ambient yeasts in pine vats and double distilled in copper pots.
Tepeztate is a magical agave that is incredibly expressive and has a fruit character that is indescribable and wonderful. They can also be fairly earthy and herbaceous. This bottling sort splits the middle between those two styles. It has some of that delicious sweet fruit quality while being earthy, dry and complex at the same time.
