Leopold Bros. Navy Strength Gin

Navy Strength refers to the percentage of alcohol required for it to be flammable. The British Navy used to ration spirits to their sailors but had to keep the proof high enough so that if it were to spill on the gunpowder needed to fire their cannons, they would still ignite. 

This is a "Blue Gin" from the fabulous Leopold Bros. Distillery in Colorado. This is a style of gin pioneered by distiller Hans Reisetbauer where all of the botanicals in the gin and macerated and distilled individually rather than all together. The resulting liquids are blended in the proper proportions to create the final product. Juniper, bergamot, coriander, and orris root are each macerated in their house made neutral spirit and distilled in copper pots.
