Ginrosa Bitter Aperitivo

Remarkable Red Bitter Aperitivo from Milan that dates back to the 19th century. In the 1880s, philanthropist and entrepreneur Annunciata Bournè was angry at the fact that unaccompanied women were not allowed in bars like Caffe Mulassano or Caffe Campari where the nascent Aperitivo culture was born. So she opened her own wine shop and Caffe where unaccompanied MEN were not allowed! She also formulated her own red bitter to serve there and Ginrosa is still made today to that same spec. 

Slightly less bitter and sweet than the omnipresent Campari, but also naturally colored unlike Campari. Flavor-wise, we find it to be remarkably similar to Campari (which we don't sell due to it's use of artificial dyes). Her namesake bar is still open in the heart of Milan and now her Aperitivo is available in the US. Use it in your Negroni's, Jungle Birds, or sipped over ice with or without a splash of soda water.

"Bruto Americano absolutely bursts with flavor. On the nose you’ll find vibrant citrus backed by cinnamon, sandalwood, and fir. On the palate, Bruto leads with bitter before opening up to an herbaceous mid-palate that gives way to a lingering bitter/citrus finish."
