Zancudo Madrecuishe Mezcal

42% ABV

Zancudo Mezcal is produced by Maestro Carlos Alberto Morales Taracena, a 6th generation mezcalero in San Dionisio Ocotepec, Oaxaca. This is an Agave Madrecuishe, a member of the Karwinskii family of Agaves. The 12 year old agaves are cooked in a rock lined earthen pit for 5 days, milled by a horse drawn tahona, and naturally fermented in pine tanks with well water. The mash is double distilled in copper alembic pots.

While lower in proof than most Mezcal we usually select at the shop, we found that what it lacked in alcoholic strength, it more than made up for with it's earthy-sweet flavors and approachability. This is the perfect bottle for the Mezcal drinker looking to move up from value priced Espadin without breaking the bank or getting into more unusual, outro flavor profiles. Just a well made, fairly priced Mezcal.
