Tequila Ocho Reposado 2023 "Corralillos"

40% ABV

The agaves for this bottling were harvested from Rancho Corralillos in the La Cienega region of Jalisco. At an elevation of 1550 feet above sea level, this is the first edition to use agaves from outside of the highlands and is also the lowest elevation site they have worked with.

Roasted agave forward with a complex herbal bouquet. Citrus, black pepper, grilled pineapple and more agave flavors. Delightful.

About Tequila Ocho:
Tequila Ocho is a project started by 3rd generation Tequila Distiller Carlos Camarena and Tequila Ambassador Tomas Estes. The Camarena family have been agave farmers for 5 generations and own La Alteña Distillery (producers of El Tesoro and Tequila Tapatio). Carlos brother Felipe owns El Pandillo Distillery (producer of G4, Volans, and others). They are as close as you're going to get to royalty in the highlands of Jalisco.

What made the Tequila Ocho project unique was that they attempted to express the concept of terroir through their tequila. Each batch that they produce utilizes agaves from a single plot or ranch, which are named on the label as well as a vintage to signify when the agaves were harvested and distilled. So every batch of Tequila Ocho is slightly different than the last, owing to differences in the geography of where the agaves were harvested. Their aged expressions are left in barrel for the minimum amount of time allowed by law. So their Reposados are aged for 2 months and 1 day, 1 year and 1 day for their Añejos. The goal is allow the flavors of the agaves to shine through rather than leaning on barrel influence for flavor. Certified Additive free by Tequila Matchmaker and considered by those who know to be on the short list for the finest Tequila Distillery in Mexico.
