What is the first country that you think of when you hear the word “Rum”? Jamaica? Cuba? Trinidad? Holland? Probably not the last one, right? But amazingly, Holland has been a major player in the Rum business for centuries as traders, shippers and blenders. Smuggler’s Reserve is brand created by a company called Infinity Spirits who are a Rum blender based in Amsterdam. They have relationships with Rum distilleries all over the world and create custom brands and blends like the one you have in your hands today. 

This is a molasses-based Rum from the Foursquare Distillery in Barbados assembled from ex-Bourbon casks that were tropically aged onsite for a minimum of 8 years. It was then finished in Holland in ex-Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks for an additional 11 months. Foursquare is one of the finest distilleries on earth and this rum exhibits the characteristic vanilla, coconut, and woody barrel spice notes that we associate with their output. The P/X Sherry finishing gives the Rum an opulent sweetness with some raisiny dried fruit character and complexity. It was bottled without additives or chill filtration. This is a sipping Rum of exceptional quality that may also appeal to lovers of Malt Whiskey or Bourbon due to its significant barrel influence. Pour it for your Rum-curious friends, or just smuggle it to the back of your liquor cabinet so you can keep it for yourself!
