Seelbach’s Private Reserve Amburana Barrel Finished Bourbon Batch 005

Seelbach's is an online retailer based on the East Coast who have become an independent bottler of American Whiskey as well. This is a cask strength straight Bourbon that was finished in Amburana Barrels, a type of Brazilian hardwood that imparts a distinctive cinnamon flavor to whiskies it comes in contact with. It imparts delicious flavor but can be overpowering at times. Luckily, this whiskey was tasted constantly from the barrel to ensure that it didn't take over. Pleasant notes of cinnamon toast, pipe tobacco, and baking spices.

Whether you discovered this bottle through the calendar or simply found your way here, Batch 5 draws inspiration from Batch 4’s Amburana-finished bourbon, expanding on its warm spice and oak-driven sweetness with a new selection of barrels and a slightly adjusted proof.
You may notice that some early tasting materials and notes reference Batch 4 — that’s because Batch 5 was still in final development at the time. The spirit you’re tasting carries that same foundation, now with added depth and character unique to this release.
