Sazerac Rye Full Proof

The latest addition to the line of Rye Whiskeys from the Sazerac company and made at the Buffalo Trace Distillery is this high proof, non-age stated expression, Sazerac Full Proof. The existing releases are the 90 proof flagship Rye, 100 proof which was introduced just last year, the uber-rare Sazerac 18, and the annual release Thomas H. Handy barrel proof. We have it on good authority that this release is aged about 6 years on average and at 125 proof, is not far off of most of the Thomas Handy releases which vary in proof year to year. However this bottle is available for about 10% of the cost. While it lacks the punchy spice and powerful flavor of the Handy, it's a delicious sip at a shockingly affordable price for the proof, age, and provenance. More approachable than the Handy, with more minty and orange notes on the nose and palate. If high proof Rye is your thing, you are hard pressed to find a better price to quality example than this one.
