Port Askaig is a village on the northeastern coast of Islay, Scotland and is the location of the main ferry entrance to the island. The brand was created by independent bottlers Elixir Distillers and it is an open secret that they source barrels for their core lineup from the Caol Ila Distillery on Islay. This is a non-age stated, cask strength expression that was matured in ex-Bourbon casks and bottled without additives nor chill filtration. Powerful while remaining very drinkable. Big peaty smoke flavors with a backbone of citrus, malty sweetness and Bourbon barrel toast and vanilla. An exceptional value considering the quality, proof, and provenance.
