Shockingly powerful in flavor! This is a liqueur from Iceland named after a popular local salted licorice candy. Legend has it that Icelanders loved the candy so much that they would make a homemade version of the liqueur by putting a box of the candy into a bottle of vodka, sealing it up, and running it through their dishwasher to melt and heat infuse the candy into the vodka. WOW! 

If salty black licorice is your thing, this is what you're looking for! And luckily you don't have to make your own in the dishwasher as the Brennivin Aquavit Distillery now makes this liqueur for you. The base distillate is a fermented potato mash that is flavored with caraway, dill, and salted licorice. Aggressive licorice and caraway flavors that coat the palate and linger. Balanced sweetness. Our tasting note when we sampled it was "This TASTES more than almost anything I've ever tasted in my life." That sentence doesn't make sense until you've tried this stuff. It's sort of like if Malort and Fernet had a baby but not as bitter. Not for the faint of heart.
