Morro Mezcal Ensamble Espadin & Tepeztate

44% ABV

Morro is a collaboration that began at a restaurant in Los Angeles when a bartender with a passion for Mezcal met a cook from Oaxaca whose family produced Mezcal. Made by Maestro Juan Lopez Olivera in the village of El Gramal, Yautepec, Oaxaca, using agaves grown by neighbors in the village. Made in the traditional manner where the agaves are pit roasted with Mesquite & Quebracho wood and then cut with axes and ground in a wood chipper. Fermented in pine vats with well water and ambient yeasts prior to double distillation in copper pots and proofed with heads and tails, no water added.

This is an ensamble of Espadin and Tepeztate (Agave Marmorata). On the nose it's all Tepeztate, with that high-toned, indescribable fruit character unique to that magical agave. On the palate it's bright and fruity with a long finish.
