Huaraches de Plata Raicilla

"Huaraches de Plata" means "Silver Sandals" and it's a Raicilla made with Agave Maximiliana in the town of Mascota in the Sierra Occidental mountains of Jalisco, Mexico. 7 to 10 year old mature agaves are harvested and cooked in a conical, rock lined earthen oven. The cooked agaves are crushed in a roller mill and double distilled in a copper alembic still. It is approachable with minerality, notes of lemongrass, herbs, and roasty agave. An excellent introduction to the category of Raicilla.
