Hampden Estate Great House Rum 2025
57% ABV
Special annual release from the legendary Hampden Estate in Trelawny Jamaica. The ferment consisted of molasses, cane vinegar, dunder, muck, and spring water which was distilled in a double retort pot still. The spirit was tropically aged in ex-Bourbon barrels for an undisclosed length of time.
Producer Notes:
Hampden Great House, a release renewed every year since 2019, is the seventh edition in this exclusive series. This bottling is a tribute to the distillery's Great House, still standing in its original form. Built in 1779 by the Stirling family, the first floor was used for rum storage (barrels waiting to be transferred to port) until the 20" century. Today, it has become the house of representation and reception for guests and visitors.
Made from a blend of several marks from three different vintages, this new version perfectly embodies the distinctive style of this iconic Jamaican rum. This 2025 edition has been bottled at 57% ABV.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Deep gold.
Nose: Dense and rich. The profile opens with notes of fermented pineapple, vanilla, and candied ginger. Hints of varnish add complexity and a bold character to this expressive aromatic palette.
Palate: Intense and generous. Ripe banana takes the lead, supported by pronounced empyreumatic notes, liquorice, and a touch of dried chili. The structure is powerful yet well-defined.
Finish: Elegant and complex. The tasting experience lingers with fine wood tones, soft spices (nutmeg, cinnamon), and a refreshing hint of camphor. A persistent, well-balanced finish with depth and nuance.
