Flor de Caña is a 5th generation family owned, single estate Rum distillery founded in 1890 in Chichigalpa, Nicaragua. They are carbon neutral certified, fair trade certified, kosher, and use no sugar or additives in any of their Rum. This rum is aged for 18 years in ex-Bourbon barrels at the base of the San Cristóbal volcano. A delightful and approachable sipping rum with notes of vanilla, baking spice, and Rummy sweetness. A tremendous value considering the age and production methods of the rum. 

Flor de Caña faced some backlash in the late 2010's due to adverse working conditions for their sugar cane farmers and associated medical issues. Sadly, due to the hot climates where sugar cane thrives, this is not an uncommon problem. They doubled down on worker safety and improved conditions and compensation for their workers. They also leaned in to making their facility carbon neutral, with 100% green energy used for distillation and a huge tree planting campaign. The bottle used for this rum is smaller than average with thinner glass, leading to a lower carbon footprint when it's shipped. The Rum is delicious and it's made with purpose, intention, and care for it's workers and the land it comes from.
