El Tesoro Extra Añejo

El Tesoro is the flagship brand from the La Alteña Distillery in the Highlands of Jalisco. La Alteña was founded by Don Felipe Camarena in 1937 and is currently helmed by his granddaughter Jenny Camarena and her brother, master distiller Carlos Camarena. They roast their fully mature highland Blue Weber agaves in traditional brick ovens and crush them with a volcanic rock tahona wheel. The mash is fermented with deep well water in wooden tanks with ambient yeasts and the "bagasso" or agave fibers in the ferment. Double distilled to proof in copper pot stills with no additives. They age their Añejo in ex-Bourbon barrels for 4 to 5 years.

Coffee, dark chocolate, almonds and caramel flavors. Elegant and rich.
