Dixeebe Mexicano Edition No. 1

53% ABV

Made from cultivated Agave Rhodacantha (aka Mexicano) that were 12 years old. Produced in the traditional/artisanal manner of pit roasted agaves that were tahona crushed and fermented with ambient yeasts in pine tanks. Double distilled in copper alembics and adjusted with "puntas y colas" or the heads and tails of the distillation. Maestro Don Valentin Cortes is one of the most skilled Mezcaleros in Mexico and his Mezcales are always exquisitely made with the typical flavors and aromas that you would expect from the agaves he uses. This Mexicano has floral aromas, minimal smoke, with earthy and agave sweet flavors on the palate. 

About Mezcal Dixeebe
Dixeebe (deej-bay) is a word from the indigenous Zapotec language of the central valleys of Oaxaca that is an expression of gratitude and connectedness to the moment. It is a toast and an expression of thanks. It is also the name of a Mezcal brand founded by Don Valentin Cortes, a 5th generation Maestro Mezcalero and his son Asìs. Their palenque is in Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca, the "Mezcal Capital of the World". Their family founded Mezcal El Jolgorio and Nuestra Soledad which they are no longer affiliated with. Don Valentin had essentially retired from distilling until Asìs and some friends convinced him to begin production on a limited scale in 2022 and Mezcal Dixeebe was born. We are so grateful that Don Valentin has decided to share his amazing talents in mezcal production with us again!
