Dark Arts Whiskey House Blunt Blend 8 year Rye

Dark Arts is an independent bottling project based in Lexington Kentucky. This is a straight Rye whiskey distilled in Indiana (very likely at MGP Distillers) and aged for 8 years prior to finishing in Madeira and Armagnac casks. It is an absolute stunner! Light as a feather with grapey fruit notes, oxidative complexity and a lengthy finish. We've not had many Brandy or Madeira cask finished American Rye Whiskies but this bottle makes us think we need to try more.

The "blunt" referred to in the name (allegedly) refers to a type of quasi-legal, re-rolled cigar wrapper flammable and inhalable smoke product often enjoyed by the Dark Arts Master Blender. He (allegedly) was annoyed by the fact that there are any number of Cigar Blend spirits, but none for his smoke of choice. Regardless of the intention, it is a top, top quality sipping Rye, with no additional activity needed for maximum enjoyment.
