Cocchi Americano Rosa

Giulio Cocchi founded his distillery in Cocconato, Italy just outside of Turin. It has been owned by the Bava family since 1978 and they still use their estate grapes for the wine base of their Vermouth and Aperitvi.

Americano is a style of fortified and aromatised wines that are generally bittered with gentian. This one is made from a Brachetto d’Acqui wine base, an aromatic red grape that is most commonly associated with a lightly sweet sparkling wine from the region, as well as Malvasia, an aromatic white grape. Rose petals and ginger are added and it's blush color comes from the base wine. It is fantastically mixable, working well in both spiritous applications (particularly with whiskey), and in sours. Add a splash to your Paloma for a bit of complexity and bitterness.
