Chartreuse Liqueur d'Elixir 1605

First released in 2005 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the manuscript given to the Carthusian monks in 1605 by Marshal d'Estrées. That manuscript contained a recipe for an "elixir of life" that many years later would become Chartreuse Elixir Vegetal. Like everything released by the monks, the recipe and component parts of the 1605 is shrouded in secrecy. We can confidently say that it's a blend of cuvees of Green Chartreuse and likely contains more of the Elixir Vegetal due to it's higher alcohol content and botanical pungency. A rare and exquisite expression of "the only liquor so good they named a color after it!"
