Banhez Destilado de Mango

45% ABV

Banhez is a producer-owned Mezcal co-op based in Ejutla, Oaxaca known officially as the Unión Productores de Agropecuarios del Distrito de Ejutla de Crespo (UPADEC). This group of traditional producers work together to produce a brand that is more sustainable and efficient for the makers and the natural environment.

This is an eau-de-vie of Mangoes harvested from the coastal region of Oaxaca. In the rainy season, there is not much Mezcal produced because agaves in the field become full of water and more difficult to deal with and ferment. But the season also coincides with the fruit harvest season. Maestros Eutimio Coronado, Willy Garcia, Manuel Cuevas, & Marcelino Martinez work together to create this product. Perfectly ripe Ataulfo mangoes are wild fermented for 7 days and distilled just once in a copper refrescadera still. It is bursting with aromas of fresh pineapple. Tropical mango sweetness with a bit of overripe fruit funk.
