Bacardi 1909 Superior Heritage Limited Edition Rum

44.5% ABV

A special edition white Rum made by Bacardi in 2010 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Daiquiri leaving Cuba with US Admiral Lucius Johnson. Produced at Bacardi's Destileria la Galarza in Mexico from a recipe based on the flavor profile of the original blend from 1862. The molasses based column distillate was aged for 18 months and charcoal filtered prior to bottling at 44.5% alcohol. This is a completely different animal from the regular Bacardi white rum that is ubiquitous on back bars the world over. Lovely vintage packaging styled after their 1909 bottling, it has an herbal complexity with fruity notes and a touch of cinnamon. An excellent Daiquiri Rum and perhaps one of the better substitutes for the Havana Club 3 Year which is sadly unavailable in the US due to the Cuban embargo.
