Fres.Co Rosé of Primitivo

Producer Notes:
The 2023 Rosé of Primitivo is made from dry farmed, unsprayed, and own-rooted vines. Primitivo is an Italian clone of Zinfandel, and the single vineyard source is Benguerel Family Vineyard in Kenwood CA,. These vines are farmed by Ross Cannard with a minimum of inputs and tractor work. Half the lot was foot-trod and allowed to macerate for 3 hours, then the entire lot was pressed and fermented on gros lees by native yeast stainless steel tanks. Near the end of fermentation, the wine was barreled down.to neutral French oak barrels. It underwent full malolactic conversion and aged for 4 months. Limited lees stirring was used to enhance body and texture. Minimal effective additions were limited to sulfur dioxide (20 ppm at bottling). As always, this wine is unfined and filtered. Alcohol: 11.6%, pH: 3.27, TA: 6.85 g/L
