WL Weller was long known as the "Poor mans Pappy" because it is made at the same distillery (Buffalo Trace) and from the same mashbill as Pappy Van Winkle. The secret is out and now a formerly affordable under the radar brand is scarce and expensive. Le sigh....

While we lament the higher price, the quality of this wheated Bourbon is undeniable. The 12 year version might be our favorite as that age is a sweet spot for Bourbon. Sweet wheat, toasty oak and an elegant mouthfeel. Stunning stuff.
