The town of Oban sits on the coast of the Western Highlands of Scotland and is the gateway to the Hebrides islands. The distillery was founded in 1794 actually predates the town by about 15 years. The distillery is in the original location, a mere 209 steps from the sea. They make a lightly peated malt in the same manner that they always have. The 14 year bottling is their flagship expression and is one of the most recognizable and beloved single malts in the world. Sea kissed and softly smoky with notes of orange peel and honeyed malts, it's unquestionably one of the finest single malt whiskies on earth.
