Loch Lomond is a Highland distillery that is located northwest of Glasgow. They are known for their Straight Neck Stills which are a pot still with a multi-plate column above it that allows for unique control in the distillation process. They also are one of the few distilleries in Scotland to produce both Single Malt and Single Grain whiskies, including a 100% malted barley, column distilled grain whiskey.

Their 12 Year Old Single Malt is a blend of Straight Neck distillate and classic Swan Neck Pot still distillate aged in 3 different American oak barrel types: bourbon, refill and re-charred. It is very lightly peated and has lots of fresh fruit flavors like pears/apples/lemons, supposedly a characteristic of the Straight Neck stills. It's a fresh, fruity, and gulpable dram at a shockingly affordable price point.
