J. Rieger & Co. was the largest mail order whiskey producer in the US prior to Prohibition. The brand and distillery were reborn in 2014 with a group led by a member of the Rieger family and bartender and restaurateur Ryan Maybee in Kansas City's Electric Park neighborhood. They produce Whiskey, Gin, Vodka, and a Coffee Amaro.
Bottled in Bond spirits are held to a more rigorous standard of production and aging than regular American spirits. A Bonded spirit must be produced at a single distillery by a single distiller utilizing grains from a single growing season, either spring or fall. The spirits must be aged in a federally bonded warehouse for a minimum of 4 years and bottled at 100 proof.
Made from a mashbill of 56% corn, 30% rye, and 14% malted barley, this Bourbon was aged for 6 years and was bottled without chill filtration. Deep and full bodied with notes of maple syrup, cinnamon, stone fruit, and tobacco smoke.
