Glenmorangie 12 year Calvados Cask Finish

Glenmorangie is a Speyside distillery that is perhaps best known for their frequent use of barrel finishing with their whiskies. Dr. Bill Lumsden is their Director of Whisky Creation and he was a pioneer in the process of using secondary maturation in different barrel types to add flavor, color and nuance to their Single Malt Whiskies. They use very tall copper pot stills ("as tall as a giraffe") to make their unpeated malts fruitier and more delicate. This release is aged for 10 years in ex-Bourbon casks before an additional 2 years in casks which for 20 years had held Calvados du Pays d’Auge from Normandy, France.

Baked apple and pear notes with jasmine and vanilla framing the pillowy soft whisky. A luscious and rich dram that is bottled at 46% ABV with no additives or chill-filtration.
