Elijah Craig Barrel Proof - Prizefighter Bottle Shop Private Barrel “Beginners Luck”

This is our first private barrel at the shop and it's an absolute delight! "Beginners Luck" is our aspirational title for this one and we certainly feel lucky to offer it to you. An 8 year old bourbon bottled at cask strength, it comes from floor 6 of Heaven Hill's Rickhouse Z. Their standard mash bill for Elijah Craig is 78% corn, 10% rye, and 12% malted barley. 

On the nose there is milk chocolate, nougat, toasty oak and apples. On the palate, you are immediately hit with leather and caramel (which sounds like an unwritten Prince song?) and some punchy alcohol. With a bit of water it blooms wonderfully with tart red fruits, vanilla and more lush caramel. It is extremely pleasurable while still remaining complex. Here's to many more barrels in our future!
