Dark Arts is an independent bottling project based in Lexington Kentucky. This is a 7 year old Rye Whiskey that was distilled in Indiana and finished with toasted Amburana wood staves. Amburana is a rare hardwood from Brazil that imparts a very distinct flavor and aroma of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal to anything that it touches. We've tried many Amburana aged spirits that were overwhelmed by the secondary flavors that the wood adds and the character of the underlying spirit is lost. This is a wonderful example of a restrained wood influence that adds a very pleasant cinnamon note to the sweet and peppery Rye Whiskey in the glass. A simply delightful and complex sipping Rye. It received a double gold at the prestigious SF Spirits Competition and we wouldn't be surprised to see this whiskey snapped up and priced up by collectors on the secondary market soon.
