Fantastic blanco from the Maestro Tequilero Mauricio Camarena in the town of Arandas in the highlands of Jalisco. Fully ripe estate agaves are brick oven roasted and, just as the name would have you believe, are crushed with a stone tahona. The mash is fermented with the agave fibers in open top cement tanks and double distilled in copper pot stills. The nose is powerful with roasted agave, some earthy notes with petrichor and some minerals. On the palate, it's agave sweet with some lingering white pepper and earthy minerals that leave you salivating and reaching for more. A delightful new expression from a great distillery.
