Uruapan Charanda Blanco

46.5% ABV

Charanda is a Denomination of Origin protected aguardiente (Rum) produced in a specific area of the state of Michoacan, Mexico. Uruapan is produced by by the Pacheco family, perhaps the best known brand/producer from the area, who've been making Charanda since 1907. This is a Single Blended Rum that is a 50/50 mix of fresh pressed estate sugar cane juice grown at 4000 feet elevation, and single estate molasses from the D.O. The fresh sugarcane juice is open-air fermented for 11 days, the molasses close-fermented for 48 hours. Cane juice tepache is double distilled in wood fired copper pot stills, while the molasses is distilled using a French-style column still. Tropical fruit and aromatic funky notes. An affordable, expressive Rum that makes a wonderful Daiquiri.
