Cruzan Estate Diamond Black Strap Rum

Black Strap or Black Rum is a key ingredient in numerous classic and Tiki cocktails including the Corn n' Oil, Dark & Stormy, and in modern versions of the Jungle Bird. It is made partially from blackstrap molasses, the final byproduct of sugar production and more bitter and earthy than the confectionary molasses you may have in your pantry. Its base is a 2 year old rum that has lots of caramel color added.

It smells of maple syrup and toffee with notes of licorice, fennel and an earthy sweetness. It's a pretty singular flavor of rum that adds color (both literally and figuratively) to any cocktail that you mix it into. Add a bit of it to any Rum cocktail recipe for an earthy and complex punch of flavor.
