Origen Raiz Cenizo Silvestre

Origen Raiz is a collaborative process between the Saravia family from Durango and Asis and Valentin Cortes from Oaxaca. Asis and his father Valentin helped the Saravia family build a Viñata (the local term for a palenque or distillery) and shared their expertise in distillation and mezcal production. The Cortes family has a long history in the Mezcal space in Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca and are behind Mezcal Dixeebe, Casa Cortes, and El Jolgorio Mezcal. As of late 2024, they have dissolved the Dixeebe brand and will be bottling those Mezcales under the Origen Raiz label moving forward.

Wild agave Cenizo are pit roasted, ground with a stone tahona, fermented in wooden vats, and double distilled in copper pots. Creamy, tropical and earthy with a pronounced smoky aroma. This mezcal is elegant and extremely drinkable.
