St. George Spirits Pear Brandy

St. George Spirits was founded right here in Emeryville, CA by Jörg Rupf in 1982. It was the first craft distillery to open in the United States since prohibition. Jörg was distilling Eau de Vie, like this flagship Pear Brandy, at a time when most Americans had never heard of, nor tasted a fruit brandy. St. George long ago moved to Alameda and have gone on to great heights, expanding their production to include Vodka, Malt Whiskey, Gin, Shochu, and any number of other spirits and liqueurs. 

Made from whole Bartlett Pears, the varietal known as the Williams Pear in Europe, 30 to 40 pounds of which are used to make a single bottle of their Eau de Vie. No additives of any kind, just the pure essence of the raw material from which it's made. It smells more like a pear than a pear does. Sip it neat after a hearty meal. Mix it with soda water in a Highball or any other number of other cocktail applications.
