Cardenxe Sotol de Desierto is produced by Maestro Sotolero Gerardo Ruelas in Aldama, Chihuahua. Señor Ruelas is a prolific producer who bottles sotoles for most of the well known brands. This Sotol is made from 3 varietals of Sotol plants, Dasylirion Berlandieri, Cedrosanum, and Texanum, and is produced in the Desierto or desert region of Chihuahua in northern Mexico. The 10-15 year old sotol piñas or hearts, are roasted in a conical, rock lined earthen pit and are crushed with a stone tahona. They are spontaneously fermented in wooden tanks with well water and double distilled on copper alembic stills. 

This is a very approachable, entry level Sotol that can be enjoyed by those new to the spirit and enthusiasts alike. Lightly vegetal with some barbeque sauce notes, well integrated wood smoke, and some sweet cacao notes on the finish.
