Wine based Aperitif that is named as a tribute to the first flight across the English Channel by Frenchman Louis Bleriot in 1909. "Kina" refers to quinine and was a category of aromatised wines originally invented to make quinine more palatable for French soldiers fighting off malaria in the colonies. The most popular version was Kina Lillet, an ingredient called for in classic cocktails including the Vesper Martini, 20th Century, and Corpse Reviver #2. Modern Lillet is much less bitter than the original recipe. Aromas of quince, elderflower and orange marmalade, and a complex, mildly bitter taste with a well-balanced sweet finish.
