Spiced Pear Old Fashioned

by Dylan O'Brien

There is perhaps no ingredient on our back bar that screams SEASONAL FALL COCKTAILS like the Spiced Pear Liqueur from our dear friends at St. George Spirits in Alameda. Made from a base of Pear Brandy which they combine with fresh pear juice, Saigon cinnamon, whole cloves and cane sugar, it's Sweater Weather in a bottle. We like making a seasonal Old Fashioned with it, but it thrives in Hot Drinks, sings in Sours, and is a lovely liquid dessert when sipped from a snifter.

Spiced Pear Old Fashioned2
2oz Buffalo Trace Prizefighter Single Barrel Select Bourbon
3/4oz St. George Spiced Pear Liqueur
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters

Add all ingredients to a mixing glass full of ice. Stir briefly to chill. Strain into an Old Fashioned rocks glass over fresh ice, ideally a large crystal clear chunk of ice. Garnish by squeezing an orange peel over the top of the drink to express the aromatic oils into the glass.
