Home Base is the project of twin sisters Ali and Sam Blatteis, Oakland natives whose aging and blending facility is in Berkeley, less than 1 mile away from our shop! We have featured their delicious whiskies at the bar for years and each new batch of their Bourbon is their best one yet in our humble opinion. Batch 36 is a blend of the following spirits:

Blend of:

51% 3 year old Home Base Bourbon: 60% organic corn, 30% malted barley, 10% malted wheat, distilled 05/21 at Corbin Cash Distillery aged in new 59 gallon barrel, char #4

and

49% 5 year old Spirit Works Bourbon: 60% organic corn, 30% organic wheat, 10% organic malted barley, distilled 06/19 at Spirit Works Distillery aged in 53 gallon new charred oak barrel.

We have always found their whiskies to be very grain driven. Although this batch has some cereal grain sweetness from the high percentage of malted barley and wheat, it tastes more mature and harmonious than previous batches. Toasty oak and proper proofing make it incredibly sippable even without dilution. We recommend this bottle widely due to its approachability, complexity, and to support good people who are a part of our local economy. Aged in Berkeley, CA at Home Base Spirits.
