The Reconquista is a cocktail that we came up with for at Prizefighter Bar in 2014. It's a Negroni riff featuring Mezcal in place of the Gin. We also swap in Cappelletti Aperitivo for Campari, and the more bitter Punt e Mes Vermouth for the classic sweet vermouth. The vanilla notes and soft bitterness of the Cappelletti are complemented by the bitter botanical edge of Punt e Mes, a sweet vermouth from Carpano that is 1.5 times as bitter as a regular sweet vermouth. The drink has remained on our menu ever since and is one of our favorites.

Reconquista
.75 oz Punt e Mes
1 oz Cappelletti
1.25 oz San Bartolo Mezcal

Stir all ingredients over ice in a mixing glass until well chilled and properly diluted. Strain into a frozen coupe glass and garnish with an orange peel expressed over the top of the drink and rubbed around the rim of the glass.
